A New Microwave Radiometer at Chiba University

On October 9, 2026, a microwave radiometer operated by the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED) was installed on the rooftop of the Center for Environmental Remote Sensing (CEReS) at Chiba University’s Nishi-Chiba Campus, and observations began.

The installation was carried out with the support of the NIED team, including Dr. Shingo Shimizu and technical staff member Tsurumi-san, together with the installation crew. Prof. Hitoshi Irie, doctoral student Shunya Mizobuchi, and technical staff member Uehara-san from Irie Laboratory were also present.

We look forward to the continued successful operation of the instrument and the collection of valuable observation data. Links to publicly available data will be provided on our website as they become available.
